Add an app
Connect an app's GitHub repository so Tada checks every deploy and posts its verdict on the pull request.
An app is one product Tada checks. You add it once, and its features, checks and cast all belong to it.
Overview
You add an app by connecting its GitHub repository. That is the only way to add one. Tada then checks every staging or preview deploy, posts its verdict on the pull request as a check named Tada, and learns the app by itself.
To check an app running on your own machine, ask your coding agent: the Tada tool opens a private link to your localhost for the length of the check. See Check an app on localhost.
Connect GitHub
- Open Apps in the sidebar and press Add app.
- Press Connect GitHub.
- On GitHub, install the Tada GitHub App and pick the repositories it can see.
- GitHub sends you back to Tada, and each repository you picked appears in Apps.
Tada then reads the repository: its environments from your deploy history,
their addresses, and any test files your team committed under .tada/flows/.
Tada only reads. It never writes into your repository. If your addresses or
those files change later, press Ask GitHub again in the app’s
Settings > GitHub.
What Tada does after you add an app
Tada learns the app by itself. It walks your screens, so it already knows the app when you bring it a feature.
- What Tada learns stays behind the scenes. Features lists only the features you and your team made.
- The one exception: Tada checks one feature it learned and tells you. That feature then joins your list.
- Checks Tada makes while it learns never count toward your plan.
Give Tada staging. On a staging, test or preview environment Tada works the way a QA engineer does: it presses buttons, fills in forms and saves, because that is what checking a feature means. On a live address it only reads, and presses nothing that sends or saves. Tada takes each environment’s name from your deploy history, and you can correct it in the app’s Settings > Environments.
If Tada cannot get past your sign-in, it says so in Tasks and gives you one button to fix it, such as Sign in. See Tasks, App settings and The cast.
