Demos

A feature's demo is the film of its newest passing check. How to share it, who can watch it, and how comments work.

A feature’s demo is the film of its newest passing check. It shows the feature working, so you can send it to a client, a teammate or a reviewer who will never open staging.

Overview

  • Only a check that passed gives a demo. A failed check’s film stays private to your workspace.
  • Every demo has a watch link, taada.dev/d/<id>. Anyone holding the link can watch without an account.
  • Links are unlisted. There is no directory and no search, so only people you send a link to can find it.
  • Pasted into Slack or a chat app, the link unfurls with the demo’s title and poster.

Share a demo

  1. Open a report of a check that passed and press Share demo. Or open Demos in the sidebar and choose Share from the demo’s menu.
  2. Copy the link and send it.

Comments

Anyone watching can leave a comment, with no account. Each comment is pinned to the second it was left at:

  • Press the timestamp on a comment and the film jumps to that moment.
  • A copied comment is a link to its own second, so what you paste into your tracker already points at the frame.

Moving a comment into your tracker is still a person’s job. Tada does not turn comments into tasks.

Narration and captions

A demo can carry captions and a spoken voice from the caption steps in its tests.

  • Settings > Narration and captions says whether new demos speak, sets whether captions show, and picks the cursor drawn on new demos. A spoken voice needs a paid plan.
  • An app’s Settings > Cast sets the voice each actor speaks in: one of the house voices, or your own. You record your voice there once and give it to any actor. See The cast.

Delete a demo

Open the demo and press Delete demo. The watch link stops working and its comments go with it.

On the free plan, Tada may stop serving a demo after 30 days. Paid plans keep demos until you delete them.
