The cast
The cast is the people Tada plays in your app. Who they are, how each signs in, where their voice is chosen, and how to stop Tada using one.
The cast is the people Tada plays in your app, such as an admin and the teammate the admin invites. Each actor has a name, a job and a sign-in of their own, so Tada can sign up, accept an invite or sign in the way a real user does.
Overview
- An actor signs in with a test user: an account in your app made for Tada. Every test user’s name ends in (Tada), for example Grace Hale (Tada), so you can spot them in your own user list.
- Each test user has an email address on Tada’s own mail domain, which Tada reads to open sign-in links and codes your app sends.
- Each has a role in your app, such as admin or client, on one environment.
- When a feature needs two people, each gets a browser of their own in the same check.
Where to find the cast
Open an app, then Settings > Cast. It lists the people Tada plays in that app and how each one signs in, one login per environment.
A sign-in whose role nobody in the cast plays is listed under Not in the cast yet. Press Make an actor to give it a name, a job and a voice.
In a workspace where the Cast page is not switched on yet, the same list is called Test users.
Voice
Each actor’s voice is chosen on the actor, in Settings > Cast: one of the house voices, or your own recording. Whether demos speak at all is set in Settings > Narration and captions. Demos on the Free plan are silent.
Where Tada adds test users
Tada adds test users to an environment whose name says it is for testing, such as staging, qa or test. On any other environment it adds them only if you allow it, with Allow beside that environment. Press Stop allowing to take it back.
Remove a test user
Find the row and press Remove.
Tada stops using that account. The user stays in your app until you delete it there, because Tada cannot reach into your database.
