Rivet

Rivet is the QA colleague inside Tada. Ask her why a check failed, have her prove a feature or fix a test, or start a check.

Rivet is how you talk to Tada. She reads your features, their tests, your checks and the map of your screens, and she can act on them for you.

Overview

Press Ask Rivet on a feature’s page and write to her the way you would write to a QA engineer on your team. You never need to know your app’s exact wording or open an editor.

What you can ask her

AskWhat Rivet does
Why did checkout fail?Reads the latest failed check, names the step that stopped, and says whether it looks like a bug or a test that needs new words.
Prove that creating an invoice works.Writes a test from your screens and saves it for that app.
The confirmation now says Order placed.Updates the test to expect the new words.
Check it.Starts a check of every feature of the app.

Tests she writes

  • A test Rivet saves belongs to one app and lives in Tada, never in your repository.
  • It arrives switched off, and Tada tries it once by itself on a test environment such as staging, never on production. Tada skips that try for a test that presses something that sends, saves or deletes. Check that one yourself.
  • Tada’s own tries of a new test never count toward your plan.
  • She switches a test on only after it has passed, unless you tell her to.
  • A test your team keeps as a file in your repository is changed in that file. Rivet can read it, and each deploy replaces anything edited in Tada with the file’s version.

Limits

  • From the chat, one check per app can be going at a time.
  • A check she starts covers every feature of the app. To check one feature on its own, press Check now on its page.
  • Rivet cannot see your screen. She has what her tools return: features, tests, checks, your screens as Tada mapped them, and the words each test expected and found.
  • A deploy already starts a check by itself. A check you ask for on top of that counts toward your plan as a second check.

AI and your data

Talking to Rivet uses an AI model. Checks do not, except on a step marked as a judgment, which a model answers and the report names. What Rivet sends to a model, and which companies run those models, is on the privacy page.
